You qualified, or you did not

Snapshot & holder drops

A snapshot drop distributes tokens to whoever held a particular asset at a specific block height. The block is almost never announced in advance. There is no way to act once it is public — by definition, the qualifying moment has already passed.

Who it suits
People who already hold the relevant assets for their own reasons. There is no strategy available to anyone else, and any content suggesting otherwise is guessing.
What it costs
The capital already held, plus gas to claim. No additional effort is possible or useful.

How to take part

A blueprint rather than a guarantee. Following every step improves your chances; nothing makes a distribution certain.

Hold assets in a wallet you control

Tokens held on an exchange are held by the exchange. Snapshots read the on-chain holder, and while exchanges sometimes credit users, many do not.

Understand what counts as holding

Some snapshots count staked or LP'd positions; others only count tokens sitting in a wallet. Wrapping or depositing can make a holding invisible to the snapshot.

Avoid moving assets around unnecessarily

Being mid-transfer at the snapshot block is a real and entirely avoidable way to miss out.

Check the claim announcement carefully

Snapshot drops are the most impersonated category, because attackers know exactly who holds the qualifying asset.

Note the claim deadline

Unclaimed allocations commonly return to a treasury after a fixed window.

What this has paid historically

Figures below are from the distributions named, on the dates named. They describe what happened once and are not a forecast. Most campaigns in every category pay nothing at all.

Ecosystem drops to existing holders

Projects launching within an established ecosystem frequently snapshot holders of the parent chain's token or of specific NFT collections. Allocations vary enormously with the size of the holding and the size of the eligible set.
